In light of evolving climate risks and the imperative for sustainable development and long-term resilience-building, Sri Lanka is in the process of revising its National Climate Change Policy (NCCP), originally published in 2012. The Ministry of Environment has now released the revised Policy for public feedback. To encourage public participation, engage with key thematic experts, amplify the voices of youth, and contribute to a participatory policy-making process, SLYCAN Trust is organising this independent dialogue on the revised National Climate Change Policy.
Objectives
- Promote Inclusive Participation: Foster active engagement and involvement of a diverse range of stakeholders, including the public, experts, and youth, in the revision of Sri Lanka's National Climate Change Policy (NCCP).
- Enhance Policy Relevance: Collect and compile valuable inputs and recommendations to ensure that the revised NCCP aligns effectively with current climate challenges and opportunities.
- Amplify Youth and Expert Voices: Provide a platform for both youth and thematic experts to contribute their perspectives, expertise, and insights to the policy revision process.
- Contribute to a Participatory Process: Facilitate a participatory and inclusive policy revision process by submitting the collected inputs to the Ministry of Environment, emphasising the importance of public engagement.
